Too Many Supervisors Get Started on the Wrong Foot.
They really don’t know how to get from “here” to “there.”
They aren’t prepared for the dynamics of transition. Far too often, they’re promoted, congratulated, and left on their own to figure out how to hit the ground running.
A study by Development Dimensions International revealed that 42% didn’t understand what it takes to succeed, only 1 in 10 leaders were actually groomed for a management job, and more than half (57%) reported that trial and error had the most influence in achieving their leadership abilities.
Which means, in effect, they’re left hanging out to dry.
The Supervisors Transition and Readiness Training (S.T.A.R.T.) Program is 2 full-day sessions, exploring questions like:
- What does it really mean to be a supervisor; what do you gain, and what will you give up?
- How can you make a successful transition into supervision?
- How can you deal with critical issues like managing former friends and co-workers, inheriting poor performers, dealing with a team substantially younger (or older), or understanding organizational politics?
- What goes into a Transitional Action Plan?
S.T.A.R.T. is offered as a public workshop through the Centre for Organization Effectiveness. It is available anywhere as an in-house program.
Recent participants said:
