There are three kinds of people who benefit from S.T.A.R.T.
People who are about to be promoted (or are being considered for promotion) into supervision / management within the next few months – ideally, six or less.
People who have just been promoted into supervision / management within the last few months – ideally, three or fewer.
The truth is anyone in a management position can benefit from attending a S.T.A.R.T. program because much of the material can be applied to other situations. For instance, the workshop explores the dynamics of transition and change, providing insight and tools that managers can apply to many circumstances – not just their own transition from individual contributor to being in charge. There have been S.T.A.R.T. participants with as many as twenty years management experience who none-the-less gave the workshop glowing evaluations and felt it was a valuable experience.
